Feel at Home

What do I feel at home with?

As growing up I didn't really have a space that I could call mine as I always shared a room with my mother or younger brother so like a lot of my peers I don’t have a dedicated space. That feeling of not having a space gnawed at me for years but some how I made do with my study table which was a space I could call truly mine. From having personalised photo frames with my best friends to a customised pen stand and quirky posters, I surrounded my little space with things that could energise me. A space I felt happy coming back to. A space that would get my creative juices flowing and helped me stay focused while I studied through the night.
After moving into my own home three years ago, it felt alien at first to own a huge space and now have the independence of curating it in my own ways. After spending a huge chunk of my formative years with limited personal space this felt like a canvas I didn’t know where to start filling the colours from.
I decided to stay grounded with minimal, smart aesthetics that felt calming and felt spacious from their design. From minimalistic cutleries that I use on a daily basis and some extra for the times I have guests over to a spacious, comfortable living area I’ve ensured my small house retains breathability.
I don’t own a dining table nor a traditional centre table but I get immense joy in sitting on the floor and having my meals reminding me of my childhood where all four of us in the family would have dinner together every single day circled intimately around each other. This little chore makes me feel grounded and helps me relive a part of my childhood that has witnessed different range of emotions over multitudes of conversations.
Ri home for me is a reminder of those feelings and emotions. It’s the little things that add aesthetics to your space but also ensure that they thrive and bloom. Irrespective of the size of the space, those little things that define you and that you can call home, your safe haven ❤️
